A second year student at the prestigious Seisou Academy, a school where students specializing in music are considered elite, Kahoko Hino is the typical nondescript student studying in the general education stream. She has also never laid her hands on a single musical instrument in her life.

However, Kahoko's chance encounter with the school's magic fairy catapults the quiet girl into the limelight. In addition to gifting Kahoko with a magical violin which allows her to play any tune she wishes, the fairy also grants Kahoko a coveted spot in the school's music competition, which she reluctantly accepts.

With a host of prejudiced students as well as rivals trying to triumph over her in the competition, can Kahoko discover her passion for music and gain true courage, friendship and love in the process?
