Viking! - The Funniest Live Action Challenge, First On ANIMAX!
31 January 2008, Singapore - Imagine what it would be like if you had to compete in a crazy obstacle course just like the mega hit animated game "Super Mario". That is exactly what fifty oddball contestants have to do in a maze of obstacles scattered upon a huge, sprawling pirate ship in Viking, premiering exclusively on Animax.
Wacky is what Viking is and the mayhem starts from the bizarre cast hailing from all corners of Japan. Unforgettable personalities include a stick-like old man looking as if he might break his fragile bones any second during his attempt, and a chunky, cheery and yet supremely confident obese woman.
Keep a lookout of the muscular guys too, as more than a couple of them unexpectedly turn into quivering scaredy cats… when confronted with the prospect of leaping across a pool of water in a flying fox-like obstacle.
But that’s not all the pandemonium on offer! The numerous obstacles on the ship are ingenious, deceptively simple and just outright cheeky for some. The simple cannonballs run (a bridge of four cannonballs suspended over water which the contestant has to run over) has reduced many cocky challengers into a soaking wet pile of embarrassment. Best of all is the "Maths Parley", a ridiculously simple math addition sum which has sent many packing.
The craziness does not stop there, but extends to the colourful costumes that a couple of the more madcap individuals would don. Memorable ones include a Mobile Suit Gundam inspired outfit by an ardent anime fan, as well as some of the brightest, ghastliest outfits, such as a shocking pink attire, that will induce many jaw-dropping moments.
"Viking is an outrageous show which viewers of all ages can enjoy. Although it is live-action, its kooky premise seems to be inspired by the silliest and craziest antics that one often sees in some of the funniest anime programs," says Gregory Ho, Vice-President and General Manager of Animax Asia.
So for the funniest, wackiest live action challenge that will have you rolling on the floor with laughter, tune in to Viking this February, only on Animax!
Viking premieres on Animax 5 February and airs every Tuesday at 7pm (Repeats at 11pm the same day and 1pm the following day)
